1942 comet class sloop. 16 footer with new sail and jib. and all new fittings. the hull needs a little bit of work but the tiller the rudder everything else is in good shape. It has a british sea gull forty plus on it. I have origional blue prints on how to build the boat and rig the boat along with origional books on the boat motor. and a sail bag. the numbers on the hull are 3255. can you tell me what that means? Anyways i'd like to sell it for $1200 or best offer. it comes with a 1992 calkins 16 ft trailer rated for 1100 pounds.

This boat was built by McPherson (unknown date). Cedar wood in good condition, with varnish on the inside and hull. Top and bottom are painted with white marine paint. Mast is original spruce and boom is original but wood might be white Sitka spruce or white pine. Telescoping center board is bronze. All hardward fittings are original. Rudder has been fiberglassed for strength to prevent from cracking if grounding. Boat has whisker pole, tiller extension and one set of sails and sits on a custom built trailer. This boat has not been sailed for two years as business takes up too much time and beside I am sailing a Lightning. Seller is only the second owner of the boat. Clean, pristine and in good condition with only minor dings and varnish and paint touchup.

Built by Skaneateles Boat Company, I think just before WWII. Wooden spars, new sails, newly re-fiberglassed hull (pale green), new rubrails darker green, deck canvas painted light blue, with mooring cover. She spent decades unused before I found her. I put her in good sailing order summer 2007 but put her into the water before re-doing her spars, coaming, seats. Nice boat evey so. No trailer, but I am looking for one (see Wanted ad). Selling only to pay part of thre cost of publishing a novel. $2,500 OBO. Located in Long Lake, NY.

Items for sale from Comet 417 which could be used by someone restoring a vintage wood Comet. Based upon hull number Comet 417 was most likely built around 1937. I obtained Comet 417 in the mid-70’s from Long Island. During restoration the hull was destroyed during a winter storm.

Wooden Skaneatles Comet Hull and Parts
It was a restoration project that was never finished, and the boat needs a new home. The bottom has been replaced, and the canvas stripped off the deck. The whole boat was painted after this work but probably needs to be painted again. Original wood tiller/rudder and cotton sails also available. Original brass fittings available. New aluminum centerboard ready to be installed. Original mast and boom also available, but probably not usable. Boat is on a trailer, but trailer is not road ready. I have an old Worden Comet (I think 1968 - I do not posses paper work) with Aluminum mast and boom. Two complete sets of sails. It has a Bronze keel and Trailer. The topside were removed with hopes of replacing but I will not have the time. Also some planking on the hull will have to be replaced because of leaking.
This boat is free for pick up - Lake Hopactcong - New Jersey.

It is a fiberglass Lippincott boat located in Avalon, New Jersey. It has a Proctor mast which has been welded and a Proctor boom. It has 4 Opti airbags for flotation. Most of the rigging is new. I have 2 mains and 2 jibs for it as well as the original measurement certificate. It is on a trailer which is in good condition with working lights.Asking $800 for the boat and $200 for the trailer.

Sailed boat last year in the Adirondacks, has been going under new wood trim up grade, sails are ok to good condition handle nice in moderate wind. Hull in great shape a leak in the Centerboard trunk though can be repaired. Was painted last year and used in fresh water only. I was sailing it last year. I have stripped the hardware off of the deck in order to strip the canvas covering the deck. I was also going to strip the paint on the hull and re-caulk. I have realized that i just do not have the time do finish this project. 468 was built in Skeaneatles in 1937, it is a seven stay rig.I have a copy of the original measurement certificate and a bunch of other paperwork.ÊAll of the rigging is in good shape.
